Well it’s here guys! The snow has subsided, the sun has come out and we can actually start to think about another summer of incredible festivals and gigs. With the return of Glastonbury and the tenth anniversary of Bestival, 2013 is set to be an absolute barnstormer. However, before that there are all sorts of other music festivals across the United Kingdom for you to sink your teeth into – none less so than the Parklife Weekender.
As any regular readers here at Young Academic will be well aware, the Parklife Weekender is an event that is close to our hearts having covered this festival comprehensively since its inception just a few years ago. Due to Parklife’s resounding success, the event has now moved home from Platt’s Field to Heaton Park which could well see one of the north-west’s premier festivals become one the most spoken about across the country and the line-up will certainly do this no harm whatsoever.
Parklife Weekend Tickets Set to Sell Out This Month…
After selling out three years in a row, this could well be the case this year despite the location change. Heaton Park accommodates far more party goers than Platt’s Field, but with the aforementioned line-up which can be found below and the festivals growing reputation – we really think it will be one of the stand out additions to the Young Academic festival guide this year. Indeed, the powers that be at Parklife HQ have hinted that their £69.50 Weeekend Tickets are set to sell out before the end of this month, so do not delay in getting yours booked up. Buy Parklife tickets here.
Parklife Express Guarantees Safe Travel To and From Heaton Park…
What’s more, the event organisers are delighted to announce Parklife Express. This ensures ticket holders travel safely to and from the Heaton Park venue for as little as £4.50. Parklife Express will run from both the City Centre and student district Fallowfield. There will be dedicated bus services running from Fallowfield and the City Centre directly to Parklife’s own bus station at Heaton Park. These services will operate from bus stops opposite Owens Park in Fallowfield and from a location in the City Centre, to be confirmed. The return journey will be direct to the City Centre to take ticket holders to the after parties. These services will be operating continuously from 10.30am on Saturday and 11:30am on Sunday.
Parklife Express tickets can be brought in person from Squirrels Bar (Owens Park Campus) in Fallowfield, and go on sale 15th April at 11am. Bus tickets will also be available to purchase online, please note these will be subject to a credit card handling fee.
The best way to travel to and from Heaton Park is by Metrolink. The closest stop is Bowker Vale on the Bury line. There are now six Metrolink lines servicing the whole fo Greater Manchester for more information go to www.metrolink.co.uk. There will be ‘double trams’ operating to give plenty of capacity. There will be a clearly signposted route straight to and from the event site.
The Parklife Beer Budget…
In a unique twist at Parklife, the festival organisers are also delighted to announce their beer budget. As you will no doubt be aware, George Osbourne revealed his 2013 Budget not so long ago. Apart from the incredible news about beer becoming cheaper, it was all pretty boring. This said, the Parklife Government of Debauchery as they like to be referred to have been hard at work looking at their booze figures. As such, they have duly decided to reduce all of their beer figures for the 2013 festival. What’s more, despite the tory government deciding to increase their prices on spirits, this will have no effect on your whiskeys or vodkas at the Parklife Weekender!
Some of our more avid readers will be wondering why we haven’t brought you the Parklife Weekender Line Up by now. Well, as with any festival there have been fantastic late additions to what we think is one of the best line ups in the United Kingdom this summer. We’re pretty sure there aren’t any more tricks up their sleeves so in true Young Academic fashion, please find this below.
First of all though, why not check out some tunes from Young Academic’s big highlight of the 2013 Parklife Weekender – the one and only Four Tet!
